The Kapelle St. Georgen was originally built to serve the spiritual needs of leprosy patients at the nearby Siechenhaus St. Georgen. The chapel's history dates back to before 1298, when the Habsburgs had the right to appoint the clergy. Later, the Hoppeler family took over this responsibility until 1425, when the chapel was transferred to the Kirche St. Jakob auf dem Heiligberg.
