The Nägelitor, a former city gate in Winterthur, was not only a passage for locals but also served as a gateway to the Schützenhaus and the gardens outside the city walls. In the 16th century, its military importance began to wane, and by the 19th century, it had become an obstacle to traffic and trade. The gate was eventually demolished in 1836.
